Season 5, Episode 1

2010 was my first foray into the world of triathlon. 2011 was all about asking Kristine to marry me. I was too aggressive in 2012, and plagued by injury. Two of my best friends helped make the 2013 season an absolute blast - a return to just having fun and racing fast.

2014 is going to be all of the above and then some. Three IRONMAN races, each five weeks apart. The first one’s in Houston on May 17. The second is in Couer d’Alene on June 29. The third - the finale - will be in Boulder on August 3.

Bring it on.

Big changes

After three years in our current apartment, Kristine and I are finally upgrading. We’re moving across town. It’ll be a new neighborhood, with a new commute and new local eateries to explore. The move itself will be a lot of work - but it's going to feel great once the dust settles!

But that’s not all. After five years with my previous employer, I decided to jump ship and join the team at Strava. The transition has been fantastic; the role represents the a most perfect blend of my personal interests and professional aspirations: endurance sport and software. Exciting and energizing.

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

I don’t want to dive too deeply into my training routine right now, but things are going very well. My fitness on the bike lines up almost perfectly with where I was last April. Does that mean I’ll be ready for an Ironman-distance race in mid-May? Well… I’ve got a lot of work to do between then and now, but I’m in a very positive place right now. As Contador would say: “Tranquilo.”

Let’s see where Season 5 takes us, shall we?
