It’s only been six weeks since IRONMAN Lake Tahoe. It feels like it's been months, but at the same time, it the days have flown by. Kristine and I have been so busy! What have we been up to? Well...

After the IRONMAN, we quickly packed for warmer climes and set off for Kaua’i. Kristine’s sister’s wedding was an absolute blast, and it was great to spend time with her (my!) family.

Back in the Bay Area, we spent a fun Sunday afternoon apple-picking with friends. It was quite a haul, and we followed that up with pizza and homemade apple crisp. Yum!

We hunkered down for another weekend, allowing Kristine to taper and then tackle the Nike Women’s Marathon. As you probably read, she gutted it out despite Achilles pain and finished strong!

Finally, we zipped up to Seattle to celebrate the triumphs of our successful seasons. We were caught off-guard by just how idyllic a city Seattle seems to be..!

I celebrated the end of Daylight Savings the same way I do every year: by riding up to the top of Mt. Tamalpais in time to catch the sunrise.

This meant getting up and into the saddle just after 5 o’clock in the morning and climbing several thousand feet in the dark. But as always, it was more than worth it. This is my third or fourth time making this annual pilgrimage and I’ve never been disappointed.

One-off events aside, I didn’t quite take the long break from training I had planned. I tried my best to capitalize on IRONMAN-induced fitness by hopping right back onto the bike after we got back from our trip to Hawaii, and I’ve since settled into a solid three-run, three-ride routine. It's a good thing, too, because my diet has gone way downhill over the past six weeks. 150 miles riding and 20 miles running is barely keeping my #raceweight in check!
