Well, I'm injured.

It was bound to happen, honestly. Training was going too well. I was feeling really great; in the water, on the bike and on the run. And if you're a long-time reader of this blog, you know that I'm not lucky enough (or build well enough) to make it through an entire triathlon season without a significant structural breakdown.

Two or three weeks ago, my hip flexors and glutes started to tighten up. This was almost expected; my training load had increased slightly, as had the intensity. After a little while, I decided to go see a chiropractor for an adjustment and massage. Instead, the guy tried to stretch cold, tight muscles more aggressively than I've ever been stretched before.

I could barely walk when I woke up the next morning and it hasn't improved much since (4 days). It feels like my femur wants to pop forward out of my pelvis with every step I take. My online self-diagnosis is a moderate-to-severe left hip flexor strain. It's quite painful.

Two weeks 'til Vineman, which, as recently as Wednesday, I had really hoped to dominate. Now I don't even know if I can finish. Or if I even care to.

Excuse me while I go smash something.
